Dear colleague,

The conference date is approaching and we would like to remind you that the very latest deadline for submitting late-breaking abstracts is September 2nd 2015. To date, 620 works have been submitted for presentation at the conference.

Abstracts must be submitted online. If you are interested in submitting a late-breaking abstract, please download the abstract template from the Call for papers section and submit the abstract directly at: www.biomicroworld2015.org/abstractsubmission.php

Abstracts currently accepted for presentation at this edition are freely available on the following link: www.formatex.info/biomicroworld2015/acceptedabstracts.php (this list is being updated daily)

Plenary lectures:
  • “The “Hide and Seek Game” played by biofilms and bacteriophages”, by Dr. Joana Azeredo (Portugal)
  • “Marine hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria and their capabilities to bioremediate marine oil spills: Functional Genomics, Physiology, Biochemistry”, by Dr. Hermann J. Heipieper (Germany)
  • “Molecular detection and identification of microbial infections: methods and kits”, by Prof. Ali Karami (Iran)
  • “The human GI tract and its microbiome: About probiotics, ecosystems and host-microbe metabolism”, by Prof. Martin Kussmann (Switzerland & Denmark)
  • “Recent Advances on the Albumin Nanoparticle Synthesis as an Efficient Delivery System for Therapeutic Agents”, by Prof. Seyed Abbas Shojaosadati (Iran)
  • “Title to be announced. Topic: mathematical modelling of the spread of infectious agents”, Prof. Angel M. Ramos (Spain)
Workshop on microbial modelling:

The Conference will organize a workshop titled: "Modelling bacterial dynamics using the R software". The aim of this workshop is to provide participants with an excellent opportunity to learn the statistical approaches to fit non-linear models for the characterisation of bacterial kinetics. The workshop chairs will be: Dr. Ursula Gonzales-Barron and Prof. Vasco Cadavez (Portugal). More info can be found here.

Closest deadlines:
  • September 2nd 2015: Late-breaking abstract submission

Virtual Participation:

In addition to the oral and posters presentations, a virtual participation mode has been established for those researchers who are unable to attend the conference personally. These participants will be requested to send "virtual papers", which will be exhibited and discussed at the online platform for virtual participation. These papers can be prepared using Power Point, Flash or similar software, or video recordings. Please click here to get more information on this modality.

Publications-Dissemination:
  • Abstract Book: A book of abstracts will be produced including all abstracts of works presented at the conference. Every registered participant will receive a copy at the beginning of the conference. (It will be dispatched to virtual participants shortly after the conference).
  • Proceedings: The proceedings of the meeting will be formally released as a book titled "Microbes in the spotlight: recent progress in the understanding of beneficial and harmful microorganisms". It will be published by BrownWalker Press, which will ensure an adequate international distribution and availability. All details on full paper submission for the book can be consulted in the Call for papers section on the conference website.

We look forward to receiving your proposals for presentation at the conference.

Best regards,
